Personalized and Differentiated
At Renaissance Preparatory School, we believe in adapting regular curriculum to individual needs, managing differentiated instructional plans, and using inquiry-based strategies. We employ grouping and regrouping techniques within and across grade levels that honor individual differences. We offer multiple resources for the classroom to allow for greater student choice and alternatives in learning, and enhanced opportunities for interest-based learning.
Personalization and Differentiation:
Renaissance Preparatory School provides acceleration and enrichment in areas in which the student is talented and / or exhibits interest. Also, allowing for the asynchronisity common in gifted and talented students, we offer tutoring and remedial help as well. A personalized and differentiated course of study is structured for every student:
- Each student is evaluated through interview, testing, and transcript analysis. An instructional program is crafted to fit the individual educational needs of the student.
- Teachers provide a basic outline (syllabus) for each subject. Each student's specific attack on the course content is planned and adapted to interests and talents.
- As much as possible within the curriculum, the school encourages selection and use of varied learning materials and experiences to facilitate engagement in the material as well as to implement differentiation and personalization.
- A variety of instructional and organizational modes and styles is viewed as preferable and is encouraged for all students to allow for the varying modes of learning.
- Implementation of varied evaluation instruments and procedures is viewed as preferable and is encouraged, as well, to allow for the varying modes of learning and varying levels of comfort or anxiety during examination.
